Monitor shows static image

Howdy folks! 

I'm completely new to this, my advisor and I are trying to figure it out. I'm on a windows 11 machine and when I add in one of the preset effects (usually the neon balls one) and try to monitor the display, it shows me a static image. If I close it and hit monitor again I see a different static image. It's like I can only see one frame at a time but it does seem to be moving in the background since it will show me different ones. Is this a windows 11 problem? My advisor doesn't seem to be having the problem but he can't figure out why I am.

It might be worth giving a shot to the new ELM version as this issue might now be fixed. Let us know!
