I'm not sure if anyone else is here yet?! I'm using the trial version of E.L.M. to prep a big installation that's running over Christmas (60,000 pixels). I like it a lot! My client is buying the full licence in the next couple of days. In the meantime, I'm having trouble using ArtNet to control the remote though. Do I need the licenced version to get this working?

Hi Magnus,

All features, including the remote control should work in the trial version. Can you describe the remote control problem?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The software is excellent- I'm really impressed. I tried to use Chromateq LED Player to work as a remote over Art-Net. LED Player saw ELM as a node but ELM wasn't showing incoming dmx in the remote window or showing LED Player as a node. I will try again tomorrow with something like Artnetominator on the network too, to make sure everything's talking. I'm sure it's something silly I'm doing!
Thanks again,
Magnus

Let us know how it goes as it may help other users.

If the Chromateq can see ELM but ELM can't see the Chromateq, make sure to check the IP addresses and make sure they are on the same subnet (usually, 3 first numbers of the IP addresses need to be the same). Maybe the Chromateq scans for Art-Net nodes by sending a limited broadcast (255.255.255.255) instead of directed one.

If both software run on the same computer, make sure the Art-Net universe used to remotely control ELM isn't already used for output by ELM. ELM ignores Art-Net from the same computer when the input universe is also used for output.

Hi Mattieu.
All good now! The Chromateq software wasn't detectable. I will speak to them and get it looked at for the next release.
I tried with Chamsys and it worked fine.
I finished my show although the client didn't buy the licence until the last minute so I had a break every 15 minutes!
If I buy a small licence, can I still map 512 universes, but not output them, or do the smaller licences restrict the number of universes that can be patched?
Thanks,
Magnus

Hi Magnus,

Great!

You're right about the license. A student license (16 universes) will let you map 512 universes, but the output will be disabled. So at least, you'll not get a break each 15 minutes.

Cheers,
Mathieu

That's great. I'll buy one for the next job. I'm very impressed with the software.
I was mapping on two computers; one with the 64 bit version and one in 32 bit. It might be me (probably), but the 32 bit version seemed to have some features that weren't on the 64 bit. In the 32 bit version, if I selected multiple strips, I could resize them and move them on the screen with the mouse. Can I turn that functionality on in the 64 bit version?

Hi,

The feature to resize and move fixtures with the mouse has been added two weeks ago (version 200). Check your version by going in the settings/about menu. You can download the latest version directly from the website: enttec.com/elm.

Regards,
Mathieu
