Morning,
Looking for advice ref cable. I work in a rental house with approx 40 Triton Units and various ELM licenses. Often, we find outselves in a situation where a Triton has to be mounted remotely to the tape it's driving.
For convenience sake and to keep in-line with our standard RGBW tape, we mount the pixel tape onto 5-pole WAGO connectors (see Wago 231-105) and use XLR3 > Wago adapters out of the Triton. Our standard TRS is only 0.75mm^2 CSA which was not carrying the data signal far at all so we upped this to 2.5mm^2 CSA by using standard twin & earth that we'd normally use for mains power. This works fine but we seem to still only be able to reach around 12m before the signal degrades to a level that's unreadable by the tape (power is still ok as pixels illuminate, just not as they should!).
My next attempt is to try using 5-core 2.5mm^2 CSA cable, with 2 cores wired to +12V and 2 to 0V in that hope that by 'doubling up', we may go further but I wanted to see if anyone had any tips or tricks? End goal would be to be able to reliably extend by around 20-30m if possible.
Thanks!
TL;DR - how can I make the signal travel further?
