Job Description
Client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Systems Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical Train Control and SCADA systems for a major transportation client in Philadelphia, PA. This role involves administering and upgrading network infrastructure, RedHat and Windows-based systems, and ensuring 24/7 availability and cybersecurity of real-time train control operations. The ideal candidate has deep experience with SCADA environments, network architecture, and infrastructure security, and thrives in a high-stakes, collaborative setting with both technical teams and operational leadership.
Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of experience supporting SCADA or real-time control systems
Minimum 7 years of experience with RedHat and Windows systems administration
Experience configuring and maintaining routers, switches, and firewalls
Strong understanding of network security practices and protocols
Proven experience in full lifecycle management of hardware/software projects
Expertise in RedHat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server platforms
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent
Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP (preferred)
Experience with high-availability, fault-tolerant network design
Strong technical documentation and troubleshooting skills
Experience working in 24/7 operational environments with on-call responsibilities
Familiarity with railroad operations, signaling, or transportation systems (preferred)
Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
