Introduction: 

Ying Chen, HBS MBA 2012, is starting a social enterprise venture in rural China to improve rural access of inexpensive and safe products through supply chain innovations

. Born in Zaoshi, a small rural town in Hubei, Ying’s work includes Consulting (Bain & Comapny), Private Equity (Bain Capital), and Base-of-the-pyramid Development (Kiva, SKS, Enterprise Solutions for Poverty, Alibaba Financial, and Credit Ease). At HBS, Ying is the co-founder of China Entrepreneurship Club (CEC) and Greater China Club (GCC), and the co-leader in MBA Oath Campaign (mbaoath.org/).

 

The venture has won 2^nd place at Harvard Business School Business Plan Competition (Social Venture Track).

Journal Club Discussion Series is aimed to provide an intimate environment for entrepreneurs to educate each other and provide suggestions to startup ideas. The size of discussion group is small so that we encourage everyone to contribute. In each session there will be an area of interest and a new startup idea presented. We also encourage people to volunteer for future discussions in any fields and pitches (please email us in the following link). Each session we hope to have a size of about 10-15 participants.
