Dear all,

First of all, thank you very much for joining today’s speech by Professor Zhang. It was great talking to you all today.

As Professor Zhang suggested, it will be great if all of our entrepreneurship clubs/groups could get more connected and seek better synergies among us. And also, as Yili pointed out nicely today at dinner, we not only need to be united within the Chinese community, we should also actively go out to reach the mainstream of the US community. To some extent, this is actually the biggest advantage that we have as a group of oversea students. For this reason, the whole email is written in English, so bear with me if I make too many grammar mistakes :-)

For different groups to connect and coordinate more effectively going forward, it’s great for the leaders of the groups to be connected and familiar with each other first. Therefore, I just created this Google Group (entreprene...@googlegroups.com) to include leaders of different student/entrepreneurship groups here. We could send emails to this mail list in the future to coordinate different events, share resources, or organize face-to-face meetings (or dinners) among us to discuss how to better leverage our comparative advantage and benefit the Chinese entrepreneur community in Boston area.

Currently, I have included the initial list of people in charge of different groups and who joined today’s event: Yili Lin, Gary Shi, Rui Li, Zhenke Liu, Xu Zhang and Lilei Xu. Please feel free to invite relevant people who are in charge of entrepreneurship/innovation related things in your organization. Just let me know their names and email address, and I will add them in.

As said before, the first and foremost purpose of this mail group is for us to get connected and know each other better. So upon joining the group, may I ask everyone to do two things:

l  Write a short self-introduction about yourself in the email;

l  Fill out the Contact List in the Google doc.

I will give an example just for your reference. Please feel free to use your own style in introduction or add any more information that you think is not covered by our contact information format.

Self-introduction:

My name is Ning Xu (徐宁). I am now a first-year MBA student at Harvard Business School. I currently co-chair the China Entrepreneurship Club of HBS and serve as the VP of Career of the Greater China Club of HBS. Before coming to HBS, I worked for three years at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Beijing for three years, focusing on TMT industries. I graduated from the department of Automation of Tsinghua University with Bachelor and Master’s degrees. I love all kinds of sports, all kinds of foods and all kinds of FB events :-)

Again, as we discussed at the dinner, it is a great start today, and there will be a lot of things that we could cooperate and create more value together!

Thanks and best regards,

Ning

Hi, Ning!

Thanks again for organizing this. Maybe we should host a group 腐败活动 together and brainstorm for future collaborations. I especially like the suggestion of reaching out to the campus-wide entrepreneurship clubs and encourage interactions with ppl outside the Chinese community.

Here's a brief intro of myself.

Lilei Xu (徐黎蕾)is a second year Ph.D. at the Harvard Economist Department. She is actively involved in the HCSSA Venture Club. Her research focuses on innovations, entrepreneurship and its relationship to institutional environment, both in the U.S. and in China.  She has also conducted field studies in micro-finance and micro-insurance in China. Lilei attended Tsinghua University for the freshman year of college and then transferred to MIT, where she obtained B.S. in Mathematics and in Economics.

Thanks~
