• Subject: "Apps for Government Transparency" Competition - Help Win $1000 for Your Favorite Charity - By Taking 5 Minute Survey

Want to help your government become more transparent -- and make $1,000 for your favorite charity doing it?

I read in Lowell Sun that the Pioneer Institute has launched its ultimate citizen award, a competition to hear citizens' ideas about how transparency and accountability issues in government could be solved through technology.

"There's a gazillion ways you can use government data to make a decision," said Maria Ortiz Perez, a spokeswoman for the Pioneer Institute. "Whether it's identifying crime rates or gaining access to property values, we want to hear what the public wants so we can develop applications that best meet their needs."

The Pioneer Institute invites you to contact your family, friends and neighbors from anywhere and ask them three basic questions:

* What government information do you think people should have access to?
* In what format do you think this information should be delivered in?
* How do you think technology can be used to make government more transparent and accountable to citizens?

So, I’m inviting you to participate.

PLEASE TAKE 5 MINUTES AND FILL OUT THE SURVEY at
