To get into GT.M shell:
mumps -dir
Normally do this from /home/vista
EWD application root directory: /home/vista/www/ewd
Compiled routines are saved to: /home/vista/www/r
%zewd* routines are held inL /opt/lsb-mgateway/ewd/894/routines/
or: /home/vista/lib/ewd/894/routines
/home/vista/lib = symbolic link to /opt/lsb-mgateway
Pre-page scripts go in /home/vista/p
URLs are of the format:
192.168.1.123/vista/[appname]/[pagename].ewd
Shutting down: sudo halt
Resetting network: sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
To identify IP address: you'll be told when you log on using puTTY or SSH, or use:
ifconfig
Hope this helps
Rob
I have downloaded this and loaded it into a vmware system but cannot get into it with a browser.
I know everything is running as I logged in and started node as per your instructions and can see it talking to the database ok but that is as far as I have got.
I am pretty sure I have determined the correct ip address as just pointing a browser to that address gives me the standard apache 'it works' but cannot load either the vista or ewdmgr.
Unfortunately I am a complete linux noob so don't know where to go from there to try and find out why I can't get to the applications. Also can't ftp onto it but that might be because apache does not have this enabled.
Does this system have a graphical environment which might help me get into it a bit more to try and determine what is going wrong? If so how can I start it up from the command line?
If it doesn't then are you able to share any tips on how to start figuring out what is wrong?

From Bhaskar -
/etc/rc.local should have a line before the exit 0 that says:
rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

I would like to look at the internals of the VM, and
maybe build a new one if I can.
Where can I find Information and eventually Guidance
about that ?
From the dEWDrip machine, create the following exports:

Hello Gus,Thank you very much for the Info. In a few daysI will try it out. I mainly use Ubuntu and havenot much experience in Linux. Does your workapply to Ubuntu too ? Will I have to change a lot ?Thank you
Amazon do have a facility to import vmware machine straight into EC2 however, as I found out after spending a whole day on it, this currently only workd for windows images, not Linux. This is such a shame as being able to take the dewDrop build and add to it would have been exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately building a machine from scratch is exactly what I am trying to avoid as I really do not know linux/Unix at all. I read your post below and looked at the instructions and could not make head nor tail of them. I guess they assume a knowledge of Unix if not Linux.
