Thought I'd mention that my use case is photomicroscopy.  I am using a Canon mirrorless camera to capture photographs through a microscope.

I offer this comment because some specific features might help microscopists.

I currently use a screen magnifier, kmag, both for critical focus and to monitor vibration of the system.  I don't know whether it's necessary, or even desireable to build this capability in to Entangle.

I have commented on the lack of success I have had when changing the file name.  This issue has not improved.  Can it be a consequence of my choice of i3 as a desktop manager, rather than a full featured one such as KDE, Gnome, or others?   I would also very much like to be able to make quick edits to the file name---for example the magnification of the objective.

It is probably dreaming, to imagine the ability to output (given the magnification and perhaps other meta data) the scale on the margin of an image.

This is a fine program.  I have never had any problem with it.

Filename change:

I just stumbled upon the  "Select session.." menu option.  I was able to set a new directory (folder) and a filename change immediately went into effect.   It had escaped my notice that "Select session" meant I could set the folder.  I think I had to use the Preferences menu again to set the name.

This is very handy.
