I have successfully compiled entangle on Manjaro (Arch Linux). But the Plugins are not working. Ich I go to settings/plugins and want to activate them, they a red round symbol with a white bar in the middle and the text is going to be greyed out. Any hints on that?

You'll have to try launching entangle from a terminal. Then you'll
probably see relevant error messages appear on the console.

Regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel. I've done that - the messages don't make any sense to me. It seems that all dependencies are propperly installed. The output after starting:

Dear all,
I installed entangle in 3 PC (Ubuntu 18 and 20) but I always have the same problem: no module loaded. Too bad. I tryed to understand the explanation in the FAQ where it is written:
If these fail to load, it is likely that the GI_TYPELIB_PATH environment variable needs to be set to point to the directory containing the Entangle-0.1.typelib file. On Fedora/RHEL distros this would be $prefix/lib64/girepository-1.0, while on Ubuntu/Debian based distros this would be $prefix/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/girepository-1.0 (alter as needed for different architectures)

That's interesting but how to fix that?
Thank in advance for your help.

Unfortunately we've found the the Ubuntu packages are simply broken
and didn't even include the plugins code:

https://gitlab.com/entangle/entangle/-/issues/44

Instead of using the Ubuntu packages, you can try installing the
Flatpak instead:
