Looking forward to the time you will be able to put more time into this.  It's amazing as it is.  I will try to report on my experience, in hopes it will be helpful.

Two little things about the capture filename:
  1. The new name does not take effect until the program is stopped and rebooted.
  2. My attempt to design a new filename with some parameters about the session were unsucessful.
On #2: I am using for taking photographs through a microscope.  I tried to design a filename with the following information:

     capture-514_4--40X--XXXXXX

Sequential numbers were inserted after the 40X.  It looks like the first X is the trigger.  I am trying to record the magnification/lens type.

Actually, I think I can design a filename with an X in a different place that would allow me to use "40X" or "100X" afterward.

Tonight, suddenly the program stopped outputting *cr3 files and is only producing jpegs.  I think this is an on-again, off-again thing.

I am running the i3 window manager.  It works swell.  The program xzoom is set as floating, and I place it down in a corner.  A second instance of xzoom is set just above or below it, and is focused on the first xzoom window.  Thus I have plenty of ready-at-hand focus assistance.

IO would like to see the file name or at least the sequence number along the bottom row so I can record notes when I change magnification or slide.  I suppose I can do this another way, by running xnviewmp and watching the new images appear in the browse mode.

Yes, a manual would help.  Perhaps via this group?  This program does alot.  It's taken me a while to figure out some of the settings.  White Balance, for example.  It is possible to adjust white balance pretty closely!   But there are various places where adjustments can be made, and what is the "WhiteBalance Adjust A", etc?

I will try to revisit this site with more ideas.

Daniel, I have used some of your other programs, and I find them all to be extremely interesting and useful.   This is a huge addition to the Free Software quiver.
