Iunderstand there are companies who do week long training courses, but i am unsure about the exam.

Has any one here used a provider who has done a course then the exam?

Is this possible or do you have to use a trainer then go to say Pearson Vue for a proctored exam?

I will be going for my CCNA R&S in the next couple of weeks, I did classes through tafe but they were included in the cert 4 and diploma that I did. Personally I think self study is the best way to go. IMO no way can you learn everything needed to pass in a 5 day course/bootcamp unless you already work in networking/cisco devices, there is just to many concepts and theory to know.

Generally you need to find a testing centre and book the exam, there are around 30 in Australia ( ). You can do it either as the single or two exam approach, it is roughly the same price so IMO you are better doing the two exam approach. If you do the single exam approach and fail, you will be out alot more money compared to if you failed one exam of the two exam approach. The single exam approach is more for people that have worked in the industry or want to re-certify.

The CCNA has just been updated so if you do a course, make sure it aligns with the new exam topics. New books and video series should be out sometime in July. If you want to know good self study materials, let me know and I can share you all the good resources available.

Sorry Just to clarify i have have done the CCNA Fundamentals course through uni similar to the tafe course that you mentioned.

And I am currently working as a network administrator, so have a basic understanding already.

Well your best bet will be to find a testing centre and google to see if they do a ccna course. I know ITIC is a testing centre and provides a 5 week course. IT Route is also a testing centre and provide a 1 week course, so I am guessing something like that is what you would be after, you would have to contact them to confirm. If you have a look around you should be able to find what you want.

My CCNA is due for renewal this year and I'm unsure on whether I should just re-do the CCNA exam or complete a different exam. Is it still the case that if you pass a course above CCNA, that it will automatically renew your CCNA as well? I remember that being the case when I was looking at the exam structure back when I first did it.

Also any recommendations on what other Cisco courses are worth looking at? The one I'm considering at the moment is the routing and switching one (either 300-115 or 300-135). My background is system/network admin for a small secondary college (350 users) so I don't need anything too complex.
