Ijust want to know is there any limitation size (maximum size) of infraworks model? Now im working in a large and detail city model and my file size more than 50 GB. I have powerful system and make sure all the setting so my infraworks model not slow based on this

Now, Its so take a long time to edit even simple edit in my model. Is there any chance to reduce file size of our model? I know infraworks its kind of database, one file related to another file.. But I still wondering to ask, if it can be done..

Do you need to visuzlize the entire model at all times? I'm wondering if you could create multiple proposals that are designated for certain areas, and then take out what you don't need for each proposal? Also, if overall you don't need to view the whole model, perhaps you can reduce the model extent.

Thanks for the great info @Anonymous . Do you think you could post this projec to the Gallery and include your system specs? It's a great example of the scale what can be done with InfraWorks 360 if you have the right hardware to go with it. -gallery.autodesk.com/projects/recent

"The SQLite database file may get larger and larger as time goes by. Even if the data is deleted from the database, the database file will not be shrunk, unless you run the VACUUM command. VACUUM will reconstruct the database from scratch and keep the database minimal in size.(Source : Appeon.com)"

I am having troubles with importing revit models into infraworks. After selecting the revit model to import and having the "uploading file bundle to cloud" data operation take place, the revit file shows up in the data sources. However, when I go in to configure, and click on the 3D Model tab, the preview is blank. I have previously used the "interactive placing" button to place in the model. Usually the revit model shows up and can me moved about for placement during this operation. Now, I just get a little yellow cube. After clicking to place, and clicking close and refresh, a "Data Source Operation Failure" message pops up. It says the refresh failed for the reason "The bounding box of data source is invalid of the data source is empty"

I have previously successfully imported this exact Revit model into this same Infraworks model, so I am not sure what has changed, and why it will no longer import. It appears like the cloud processing of the revit fail may not be working properly/is failing.

I have uploaded the revit file for you to give it a whirl. I am using Infraworks version 20.2.22.0. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. The perplexing part is that the method I am using I used before, only now it doesn't seem to work. I did recently duplicate the model from our server to my local hard drive (working from home now) and had thought maybe that had something do do with it. But as test, I constructed a new Infraworks model from scratch by bringing in the survey base and aerial image in all on my local C drive and got the same results/errors when I tried importing the revit file into the new model.

thanks for the file. I could test it and the Revit cloud import worked fine. The model preview in the configuration was possible and interactive placing as well. I created this screencast that shows how it looks like:

You mentioned you work on a different system or environment. There must be something different. In the moment I don't have an idea, but could you double check the 3D configuration and confirm that you are not using the Navisworks local import option? I have tested the local import as well and it worked also fine, only the textures are a bit different.

Maybe a long shot idea, but is it possible there is some minimum internet connection speed required for the cloud data import method to work? We have blazing fast fiber at our office, and at home I have OK DSL. Much slower connection though. I didn't know if it could time out or something before it completes whatever is happening on the cloud with the Revit model. Would the Navisworks Manage be another way to to import the revit file? I have the AEC collection subscription and it looks like the Navisworks is something I have access to (not currently installed though)

Navisworks local import option is not completely the same as the cloud import. With local import you will get the same results as if you loaded the file into Navisworks.

I recommend using the cloud import and only switch to and test local import if you encounter issues with the cloud import results.

The second error is about an "lmv" file and I don't know how to read that error exactly. Usually, a LMV file has something to do with viewing the model online on Bim360.

The common thing in both errors is that the file paths and names exceed the max. allowed numbers of characters. There is a Windows limitation of 256 characters.

Can you please copy/move your complete model to another folder with shorter path and re-test if it's working then?

Success! I duplicated the model to a folder on the C drive and kept things as short as possible and it brought it revit model in with no trouble at all. That must have been the problem. Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it!

This software is frustrating to learn how to use. This seems like a simple question. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete a road that I designed that is no longer feasible. You would think it be easy as right click delete or select object and hit delete key but no.

And I could not find any answer online so what? Am I the first to want to delete a road design and start a road over?

Thank you for contacting Autodesk! I am Nilesh Chaudhari and I will be helping you with this. I am sorry to know that you are facing issue while using Infraworks. Here is the article that might be helpful for you. Please let me know how it goes.

Im very confused by your response. First off that response says its civil 3d, not infraworks.

Secondly I have used civil 3d for years and I have never seen a Roads menu or roads in the contextual ribbon at all. Its corridors, not roads.

How old is that article?

Delete is available when you are in "Select Mode". To enter Select Mode, toggle the View settings menu from the Utility Bar, and turn Edit Mode off. Now, when you select a road and right-click, you can delete. Let me know if you have any questions. (Here's a help topic that should walk you through it, too:

You've got a good point there. I would suggest posting this to the InfraWorks Ideas board, as our product team looks at the ideas to help prioritize our development roadmap. Let us know if you have any other questions, comments, concerns.

And woops, my bad! Just noticed that I signed in with my personal account today rather than my official Autodesk account, as I am an Autodesk employee. Just wanted to represent myself clearly

Thanks,

A simple pop-up warning when I was trying to delete it in edit mode, telling me I was in the wrong mode would have clued me in, but yes I will. Hopefully this post will show up in google search algorithm and will help the next person.

It works BUT some files will not show all geometry. See screen shots below. I can toggle from 1 part to the other using "invert orientation" so its all there. The same file is also linked to a Navisworks project without issue.

Can anyone advise me what the issue might be and how can I fix it. I guess I could source the civil 3d file and import that but it would be nice to have 1 file source for data for both infraworks and navisworks.

I've been building a set of models all in the same infraworks project. Everything is geolocated and I'm using multiple C3D terrain surfaces, orthophotos and ESRI shapes. Additionally, I'm adding infraworks objects such as trees furniture etc. Current file size is Almost 10 GB.

My problem comes about when I want to temporarily add a point cloud to model tree heights in the area. Earlier in the project I could add a .las point cloud and it would generate pretty quickly in infraworks. Now it doesn't show at all.

-Splitting the file into smaller chunks. I've done quite a lot of work on this and don't want to have to rebuild new models and add in the objects again. Also for ease of use, I'd like to keep everything together.

it could be that the point cloud is not imported to the correct location, have you checked that?

What coordinate system has your InfraWorks model and is it the same system that your point cloud data is using?

Yes, locations and coordinate systems are the same. My work around so far is to start a new clean project so and copy and paste any coverage areas, shps, text, 3d Shapes etc. I can then view the point clouds perfectly fine. My thinking is that there must be a project size limit in Infraworks over which point clouds aren't visible. Still doesn't explain how I can continue importing other data but .... well .... these things have their reasons!
