I'm a long-time enso user on windows -- and now switching to Mac/OSx.

I've found lots of "mention" of OSx binaries -- but can't find them

Any leads?

Thanks

I've attempted to build this branch: https://code.launchpad.net/~communityenso/enso/community-enso

Installing scons on OS X is pretty straightforward these days, if you use Homebrew. So I did that, checked out the branch, and set it going.

Unfortunately, it appears that the version of Cairo used no longer compiles on OS X as of 10.7 (I found this thread: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39493). I'll try to build against a newer version of Cairo where the relevant bug has been fixed, but I've not touched Enso in a very long time – and it looks like the same is true of everyone.

I found that I could compile Cairo's later versions directly, but that the build system used by Enso fails to build the same version for some reason. I gave up last night after some fruitless hacking – I know nothing of scons.

I used to use Quicksilver, but it languished for a while, so I jumped ship to Launchbar. Quicksilver development picked up again though if you're after another free alternative.

Hi MAt

Thanks for answering -- I suspected something like this (I had tried building it as well and it didn't compile (and my experience is on the PC, not OSx, so I didn't spend much time looking into it.)

Too bad -- I still use enso on my PC, but have settled meanwhile on Alfred on my mac.

Hey guys,

I have cloned a version where I was able to use scons using recent a newer version of cairo. The installation was fine and I could make it run, but sadly it is VERY buggy, so I was trying to get at least the Open command running with very little success.

Just in case anybody wants to make it work for Mac OSX, let me know and help would be appreciated. I will take a look on the Launchbar, but I would like to have a cross-platform and free solution. On Windows Enso works so smoothly, but sadly I couldn't get it properly working on my MacOS X and Linux.

cheers
