Assunto: Amazon CloudWatch Announces Custom Metrics, Lower Prices
Para: "anton...@gmail.com" <anton...@gmail.com>

Dear Amazon EC2 Customer,

We're excited to announce that you can now use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor your own custom application metrics. In addition, we are lowering the price of Detailed Monitoring for Amazon EC2 instances.

Prior to today, Amazon CloudWatch provided monitoring for AWS cloud resources such as Amazon EC2 instances, Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes, Elastic Load Balancers (ELB), and Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) DB instances. Amazon CloudWatch provides free monitoring for pre-selected metrics for Amazon EBS, ELB and RDS. For Amazon EC2, customers can leverage Basic Monitoring, which provides metric data at five-minute frequency, for free. Or, customers can choose Detailed Monitoring for Amazon EC2 instances, which provides metric data at one-minute frequency for a monthly charge. This monthly charge has been $0.015 per instance-hour ($10.80 per month), but today, we're announcing that we're reducing this price by 68% to be $3.50 per instance per month. This new pricing is effective June 1, 2011.

In addition, starting today, you can also use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor your custom application metrics for $0.50 per metric per month. Using a simple API call, you can now provide to Amazon CloudWatch any metrics that are important to your business, such as application performance, system health, or customer usage. Within moments, you will be able to retrieve statistics, view graphs, or set alarms on your metrics.

With Amazon CloudWatch, there's no need to set up, maintain, or scale your own monitoring infrastructure. All of Amazon CloudWatch's functionality is available immediately via API, the AWS Management Console, and the AWS SDKs. To learn more, visit: aws.amazon.com/cloudwatch.

Sincerely,

The Amazon Web Services Team

P.S. Alarms are available for any Amazon CloudWatch metric for $0.10 per alarm per month. Further, as part of the AWS Free Tier, you receive ten metrics (any combination of Detailed Metrics for EC2 or Custom Metrics) and ten alarms per month, free of charge.
