ascii hl7 to rtf hl7

Has anyone done ascii HL7 to RTF HL7 in ensemble? I have a request to basically create OBX rtf fields that would create a report inside Epic. At first thought this sounds impossible, but I would thought ask anyways J

Here at Inland, we developed an interface that takes an HL7 message, and populates OBX field 5 with a base64 encoded PDF report.
This involves taking the HL7, find the PDF file, reading the file, doing the base64 encoding, and populating OBX field 5.
I can provide more detailed information if you are interested.
