Connection Problem: Lost HL7 Read connection

We're having a problem were a vendor is having problems sending HL7 ORM messages to an EnsLib.HL7.Adapter.TCPInboundAdapter Business Service.

 

The vendor's server is here on site and there are no firewalls between their server and our Ensemble server.  In fact, we installed a copy of Interface Explorer for HL7 onto the vendor's server and successfully sent HL7 messages from their server to Ensemble, so I know that there is no connectivity problems between the four servers.

 

What happens is that they connect to Ensemble, then a fraction of a second later they disconnnect.  Then, a fraction of a second later, we get the following error in the log:

 

"Lost HL7 Read connection on 4010<-10.254.14.235:186 - detected via ERROR #5002: Cache error: <READ>zReadLine+10^%IO.DeviceStream.1"

 

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?  I'm sure it's the vendor (isn't it always?) but I don't have much confidence that they'll be able to fix it on their own.

Jim you'll get this error if the HL7 is not well formed. Could you try to find out using wireshark?

Make sure the hl7 message is coming encapsulated correctly, by the checking the message in hex.  I would love to know if anyone has figure out how to do this in ensemble!
