ERROR #5803: Failed to acquire exclusive lock.

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could explain to me what causes the
following error to occur on saving of an object:

ERROR #5803: Failed to acquire exclusive lock.

Hi Francois

One possibility is that another process is holding a table lock. e.g. One process does a SQL delete on a large number of elements in a table/class. Due to the lock escalation logic it takes a table/class lock after 1000 and hence another process cannot save/update an object in the same class/table whilst the table level lock is held.

It could also be due to system configuration or production design.

Can you contact the WRC to discuss with a support advisor?
