Wondering if there is anyone out there using Ensemble for healthcare
EDI transactions. We are working on 270/271 and 276/277 and need to
create them in a 5010 HIPAA compliant format. When contacting
InterSystems, we get little to no EDI support. The website which the
documentation points you to sells SEF files which are incorrect and
need to be fixed. The "demo" X12 to HL7 production which comes with
the install is 4010 and will soon be irrelevant in the healthcare
arena with 5010.
1. We are having to write our own interchange and group headers for
each transaction. When we write our own, will there be fields that
need certain values in them? (eg. ISC 401....when it should be 501).
2. Ensemble is not recognizing the doctype of any of the x12 schemas.
We can't get messages to hit a rule unless we do not specify doctype.

As robust as Ensemble is for HL7, we are finding quite the opposite
with X12. Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your comments. This is the first I have heard of issues with edidev and I will investigate.

I will also investigate the issue you reported regarding not recognizing the doctype. If you have details, can you please submit them to the WRC.

I also take your point about the ENSDEMO samples. New examples are slated.

Thanks David. Much appreciated.

In regards to the edidev SEF file, their 276 had an extra line in it.
One of our programmers used notepad++ and found the issue. Luckily,
removing the extra line worked and it imported. We are going to
examine the other SEF files closely for any deviation from the 5010
HIPAA specs.

On the doctype issue, there will be a ticket submitted to the WRC by
Conall Hoag with details.

I know this does not really answer your question, but we are having a different experience ourselves - we are doing 4010 and 5010 X12 interfaces in Ensemble

We have not had a problem with the 5010 SEF from edidev - we had to purchase it - it is not available as a demo - but the cost is reasonable and it has worked well for us. We are doing 837 in the 5010 version.

Thanks!
