This 7-hour certification course, titled Life Safety Codes utilizes Life Safety Functions to ensure the protection of life during a fire or other event that requires building occupants to evacuate or relocate. The functions incorporated in fire alarm and signaling systems serve to assist the emergency forces responding in addition to the occupants. This certification teaches about the basic understanding of Life Safety, Fire, and Accessibility codes that pertain to swinging doors and the hardware for a door assembly within a security system. At the conclusion of this certification, the student will be able to identify possible violations affecting them along with the recommended corrective measures.
All approved courses, curriculum, & quizzing will be offered through a self-paced web based training platform. The Certification Test (i.e. final exam) will be a one-hour proctored final exam with a nationally recognized testing company.
NOTE: If a student fails to pass the exam, they can immediately retake the online proctored final exam and will pay a $45 retesting fee to Proctor Exams. To purchase an exam at a later date, use your Elite CEU login to to access your single sign-on for purchasing.

A fire watch is the one of the most common methods of mitigating life safety deficiencies. The NFPA 101 Life Safety Code has always required that an approved fire watch be implemented or the building must be evacuated (not feasible in most settings) if the fire alarm or fire suppression is out of service for more than 4 hours in a 24-hour period. The 2012 NFPA 101 references the 2011 NFPA 25 Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems which increased the allowed hours of out of service to go from 4 hours to 10 hours in a 24-hour period before a fire watch is required. This standard revision now aligns with the day-to-day duties of ongoing construction where planned fire sprinkler shutdowns occur for modifications and additions to the existing fire sprinkler branches. Make certain that your contractor staff is still performing a "fire watch" in the affected construction zone as most construction areas are considered hazardous areas and that no hot work is being performed. Also, keep in mind, that while the fire sprinkler zone is shut down for a smaller construction area you may be affecting a larger area that is occupied so restoring the fire sprinkler system as soon as possible or ascertaining that your fire alarm (smoke detection) system is still active are other ways to ensure fire safety. One must also note, that the Life Safety Code only allows the 10 hour rule on fire suppression outages and not fire alarm outages, as this provision remains at 4 hours within a 24-hour period. The term out of service is intended to imply that a significant portion of the fire alarm system is not in operation and not just simply a sole smoke detector for example. Lastly, the personnel performing the fire watch should be specially trained in fire prevention and in occupant and fire department notification techniques.
Learn about and use three different types of 3D modeling software: Tinkercad, Shapr3D, and Forger. In Tinkercad, you will create a chess pawn, a two color badge, a repeating design, a complex shape. You will also learn how to embed a Tinkercad design, upload a photo to Tinkercad, make your design public, and add a custom font. You will learn the basic operations of Shapr3D and use the software to design a drapery cord drop and a cable wrap. Finally, you will use Forger to create an alien bust.
This course is for students entering any of the several healthcare professions (EMT, Nursing, CNA, Residential Care, etc.). The course covers one and two person adult CPR, child and infant CPR, obstructed airway maneuvers for the conscious and unconscious adult, child and infant, barrier devices and disease transmission and prevention, introduction to the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), legal and ethical considerations, and special resuscitation situations. Students who have been certified in the past, and have let their certification lapse by more than 30 days will need to take this full class.
The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is designed to prepare the individual to work as an EMR and initiate immediate life-saving care to those in need who have accessed the EMS system. The EMR has the basic working knowledge and skills necessary to function at that level and provide life-saving care while awaiting for additional EMS resources. The course prepares attendees to perform patient assessment, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator, oxygen administration, bandaging, splinting, hemorrhage control, childbirth, and spinal immobilization. As well, the EMR can assist higher level EMS personnel at the scene and during transport. The EMR is an integral part of the comprehensive Emergency Medical System who functions under medical direction and oversight to provide basic interventions with minimal resources.

Using a Trauma-Informed Len When Working With Clients With Co-Occurring Disorders
This training will review the 6 guiding principles of trauma-informed care. The TIC lens will be used to explore effective ways to work with clients who have both a mental health and substance use disorder diagnosis.
The Intersection between Transference, Countertransference, and Trauma
We will explore how prevalent trauma history contributes to increased incidence of both transference and countertransference. Managing these interactions provides potential tools to bring about substantive change but also raises the risk for the development of figurative dual relationships.
This certificate program will provide training for garden maintenance and planning, choosing plants, and understanding soil and water, with a focus on land stewardship. Phase 1: online learning will focus on infection control and safety practices, phlebotomy equipment and techniques, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen preparation and handling and the ethical and legal aspects of phlebotomy. Practice proper procedures in the collection of blood specimens by venipuncture in a classroom (lab) setting. Phase 2: students will perform venipuncture and the associated labs at a hospital or a practice-based laboratory for 100 hours. Phase 3: prepares each student to sit for the ASCP Certification.
Recommendations have been refined to also address the needs for infants born to HIV-infected mothers. Antiretroviral drugs now allow these children to exclusively breastfeed until they are 6 months old and continue breastfeeding until at least 12 months of age with a significantly reduced risk of HIV transmission.
Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months has many benefits for the infant and mother. Chief among these is protection against gastrointestinal infections which is observed not only in developing but also industrialized countries. Early initiation of breastfeeding, within 1 hour of birth, protects the newborn from acquiring infections and reduces newborn mortality. The risk of mortality due to diarrhoea and other infections can increase in infants who are either partially breastfed or not breastfed at all.
Children and adolescents who were breastfed as babies are less likely to be overweight or obese. Additionally, they perform better on intelligence tests and have higher school attendance. Breastfeeding is associated with higher income in adult life. Improving child development and reducing health costs results in economic gains for individual families as well as at the national level.(1)
Families and children in difficult circumstances require special attention and practical support. Wherever possible, mothers and babies should remain together and get the support they need to exercise the most appropriate feeding option available. Breastfeeding remains the preferred mode of infant feeding in almost all difficult situations, for instance:
Breastfeeding, and especially early and exclusive breastfeeding, is one of the most significant ways to improve infant survival rates. While HIV can pass from a mother to her child during pregnancy, labour or delivery, and also through breast-milk, the evidence on HIV and infant feeding shows that giving antiretroviral treatment (ART) to mothers living with HIV significantly reduces the risk of transmission through breastfeeding and also improves her health.
WHO is committed to supporting countries with implementation and monitoring of the \"Comprehensive implementation plan on maternal, infant and young child nutrition\", endorsed by Member States in May 2012. The plan includes 6 targets, one of which is to increase, by 2025, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months up to at least 50%. Activities that will help to achieve this include those outlined in the \"Global strategy for infant and young child feeding\", which aims to protect, promote and support appropriate infant and young child feeding.
