Lucknow Central is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language prison film directed by Ranjit Tiwari, written by Aseem Arrora, and produced by Nikkhil Advani, Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani under Emmay Entertainment with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.[5][6][7] The film stars Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma and Inaamulhaq in leading roles.[8] It was released worldwide on 15 September 2017.[6]
The official announcement of the film was made on 28 April 2016 through the Official YouTube Channel of Nikhil Advani's production house Emmay Entertainment where it was revealed that the title of the movie would be Lucknow Central.[9][5] The idea to make this film was conceived when Ranjit Tiwari, the director of the movie, read in the newspaper about a group of convicts who had formed a music band known as Healing Hearts in Lucknow Central Jail. The popularity of the band was such that quite often, they were invited to perform at special functions outside the jail.[10].mw-parser-output .templatequoteoverflow:hidden;margin:1em 0;padding:0 32px.mw-parser-output .templatequote .templatequoteciteline-height:1.5em;text-align:left;padding-left:1.6em;margin-top:0
Before finalizing the script of Lucknow Central, the director and writer of the film got in touch with various music bands that were being operated from the central jails of India.[12] The writer of the film Aseem Arora says that the story of Lucknow Central is inspired from real-life events that have taken place in Lucknow Central Jail, Delhi's Tihar Jail, Jammu's Kot Bhalwal Jail and Pune's Yerwada Jail.[12]
In the year 2016, it was reported that the makers of the film had finalized Farhan Akhtar for the lead role in Lucknow Central.[6] Farhan Akhtar said that he decided to do this film because he is inclined towards movies that deliver a message to the society. The actor said that "There should be a message that audience can take back home with them, be it in the form of an inspiration or social relevance, to me that it is very important."[13] The role of Gayatri Kashyap was initially supposed to be played by an actress Kriti Sanon[14] but she later opted out of the project as the shooting got delayed.[15][16] In January 2017, actress Diana Penty was signed in to play the role of NGO Worker Gayatri Kashyap.[17][18]
The principal photography of the film commenced on 10 January 2017 at Film City, Mumbai where a replica of Lucknow Central Jail had been created for the shooting of the film.[19] Apart from Mumbai, the shooting of Lucknow Central was also done in Lucknow and Varanasi.[20] The official trailer[21] was launched on 26 July 2017. The film hit the theaters on 15 September 2017.[22]

Farhan Akhtar and Diana Penty-starrer Lucknow Central is set to hit the theatres this Friday. The film revolves around the musically inclined Kishen Mohan Girhotra (Farhan), who ends up in jail after being accused of murder. He forms a band with his other prison inmates, which is a front for a jailbreak. Will they manage to escape?
Lucknow Central is inspired by a real incident. Did you know there is actually a band formed by prison inmates in Lucknow that performs at functions? The band, which is called Healing Hearts, was formed in the Adarsh Karagar, just on the outskirts of Lucknow.
In 2007, the then senior superintendent of the jail, V K Jain, decided to set up a band from Lucknow to participate in the annual event where inmates from different central prisons across Uttar Pradesh came together to showcase their talent. Funds were raised, and 15 instruments were bought. Twelve men sentenced to life imprisonment for murder came together and were trained by Noor Mohammad, a prison guard, who grew up learning music, as his father played in a private band.
The band worked hard to give a fantastic performance on Republic Day, and since then, there has been no looking back for them. From private parties to weddings, the band has become popular at all kinds of events. Due to popular demand, they learnt to play latest Bollywood hits and such is their fan following that there is no shortage of bookings, sometimes even from out of Lucknow.
The cast of the Lucknow Central recently paid a visit to Lucknow and met the band which served as an inspiration for the film. Directed by Ranjit Tiwari, the film also stars Gippy Grewal, Ronit Roy, Deepak Dobriyal and Rajesh Sharma. The team of Lucknow Central with Healing Hearts band

Aims: The present study was conducted to investigate the relevance of cortical plate proximity of maxillary central incisor root, maxillary alveolar bone width, and the apical root resorption in extraction and non-extraction orthodontically treated cases. Further, the correlation between the apical root resorption and the various parameters was investigated.
Materials and methods: A total of 80 lateral head cephalographs, 40 pre-treatment and 40 post-treatment, of orthodontic subjects with a mean age of 15 years treated with fixed standard edgewise appliance were obtained. All subjects were divided into two groups as extraction and non-extraction cases. Twelve linear and three angular parameters were measured and evaluated. The paired "t"-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the stepwise regression analysis were done to test the relationship between the apical root resorption and the various parameters.
Results and conclusions: The study revealed slightly greater amount of apical root resorption in extraction subjects as compared to non-extraction subjects. However, no statistically significant difference was found between the two treatment modalities. In extraction subjects, the apical root resorption was directly proportional to the pre-treatment length of maxillary central incisor and inversely proportional to the root width in apical one-third region, though there was a weak correlation. In non-extraction subjects, the pre-treatment anteroposterior position of the root apex of maxillary central incisor in the alveolar bone, in combination with its root width in the apical one-third region formed the predictive factors for the variance in the amount of the apical root resorption, though there was a weak correlation. Furthermore, the changes in the alveolar widths at the root apex and mid-root region were considered as predictive factors for the amount of apical root resorption during extraction and non-extraction treatment, respectively.
