Star jasmine is a fast-growing and fragrant evergreen vine that offers great coverage & privacy as a climbing or creeping vine. Even better, it bursts into bloom with incredible-smelling white flowers in the spring! The plant is native to Asia, but is incredibly popular in the Southeastern United States and areas of California. In warm environments like these, star jasmine is also super easy to care for and grow. Just another reason we love it! Star jasmine can grow as dense ground cover or container plants, but our favorite use is as a climbing vine. This does require a trellis, pergola, stakes, or some other structure for it to grow up. Those are easy to
When I was 17 years old and a student, the girl sitting beside me in class passed away after a short struggle with an illness. Her name was Esther. She had stopped school for a while, but because no one knew the seriousness of her condition, we all thought it was a matter of time before she came back. When she passed away, we did not have the chance to say goodbye.
Today, I am a part time teacher of photography in a new media school. Looking at my students made me think about the days of my youth. I thought about the friends that I used to hang out with, the times I had fallen in love, and all the nights we spent partying. But it also made me think about Esther who died young and did not have the chance to grow up.
I photographed the students in pairs. They were either best friends or lovers. I try not to make any distinctions. Youth is a bubble and every person in there is awaiting exile. My hope is that I had gotten to photograph them before they become strangers to one another or even themselves.

In the year 2000, Spencer was commissioned by Graham Rounthwaite at British music, fashion and culture magazine The Face to create a series focusing on youth clubs across the United Kingdom. From Cornwall to Lancashire, Spencer photographed teens goers as they drank, danced and fell in and out of love and lust.
I'm sure you all heard how Miley Cyrus got engaged last week, right? Some people think that at 19, she might be too young to get married, so I thought this week we should have a discussion about young love.
Frankly, I've always been a doubter who's more than a little skeptical and worried about couples who get very serious at a young age. However, I don't think there are any hard and fast rules or age limits when it comes to love. I've seen young love success stories with my own eyes! Since I couldn't offer you my own insight (as a single 30 year old, I don't think anyone will ever accuse me of being too young again), I went to two couples I know who have made young love last.
First up, my own gorgeous baby sister, Chelsea, and her husband Oliver. Chelsea and Oliver have been pretty much joined at the hip since they met by the lockers in the hall during their freshman year of high school at age 14. That's them above, in their teenage days!
Oliver says, "When I first tasted Koof's chicken wings." Ha! Koof is my dad's nickname. My dad loves to cook and Oliver is good at sucking up to my family. Chelsea says, "I knew how much I loved Oliver in high school. After we had been dating for a while all I could do was see our future together. I knew I wanted to marry him at a young age and the longer we were together the more real it became."
__Oliver sometimes wishes he could have gone traveling on the road with a band. Chelsea says she occasionally wonders what it would be like to go on first dates and get all dolled up and nervous for someone new they way she saw her friends do in college. However, she says that after 12 years, "I still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about him. I know it's weird." I bet you guys think it's adorable, not weird! (Chelsea also wishes she could have had the chance to live in the big city as roomies with her big sister, yours truly.)
Oliver says it was difficult to balance scheduling conflicts and going to different colleges, but, "It was all pretty easy to sustain with Chels." Chelsea says people's doubts were hard to deal with: "It was tough in high school, people thinking we were too young to be so in love. I wanted to spend every minute with Oliver, which put on a strain on my relationships with my friends. Now being 26, and being married for almost 4 years we still have struggles but it's never been hard for me to love Oliver and our relationship."
According to Oliver, the best part of staying with the love of his young life: "Knowing that you have someone who loves you back. Living with your best mate. Having a smokin' hot wife." Chelsea says, "Knowing and loving someone completely. We grew up together and are best friends."
Oliver says, "Communication and practicing selflessness (is that a word?)" [Gena's note: Yes, Brother-in-law, it is!] Chelsea says the key is honesty: "I'm not always best at expressing my feelings. I used to let things build up. But being able to trust someone and tell them exactly how you're feeling usually can correct any conflict, which I think is what is so great about our relationship. Of course we have disagreements but I love that by the end of the day we have talked them out and are on the same page."
So sweet, right? For the record, I thought Chelsea and Oliver were WAY too young to get engaged when they did. (Oliver was only 20 and not even old enough to order a bottle of champagne to celebrate!) But they have proven me wrong and I can admit it.
At 26 years old, they are still young, but they are one of the most solid couples I know. They've been married for nearly four years and are still going strong. Tomorrow we'll talk to another couple who's had even more time to prove young love can last, but for today, let's just talk about my wonderful sister and her man.
First of all, how beautiful is my little sis? She's my favorite person in the world! What do you think of their experience and their relationship secrets? Do you have similar struggles and rewards in your relationship?
It was one of the best summer loves of my life. The innocence, I think, made it all the more special. We were just two kids discovering a specific type of feeling for the first time, ready to take in whatever life had to offer on a sunny beach in Italy.
Expectedly, our strong sense of passion and emotions seems to take over our barely developed sense of reason and rationality. We choose to overlook certain red flags in our partner and relationship supposedly in the name of love.
As we and our partners our constantly evolving, we often drift apart in terms of values. Although this is not necessarily a bad thing and both progressions could be positive for both parties, they can still diverge as incompatibilities arise.
We lack fundamental skills such as managing our anger, communicating clearly, mindfulness and trust-building. Unfortunately, due to the absence of these principal building blocks, we frequently find ourselves confused, angry and anxious after relationship struggles.
Most times, when we enter a relationship at a young age, we feel as if the relationship should work out effortlessly with no bumps on the road. Evidently, this is false as there is significant importance tied to actively aiming to make your relationship a safe space for both.
I'm going to be super honest, and admit how much I love Ross Tweedy. I was super blessed to tour the US and Europe with him for almost 3 years straight. While I knew Recover from their releases on Fueled By Ramen, Fiddler, and Universal Records, I did not realize how good Ross was/is until I got in the same room with him. I'm hoping you guys get a picture of how rad he is, and what a crazy life he has had. What he and the rest of the guys in Recover, etc., have accomplished is amazing. I started touring with Ross after Young Love got signed to Island/Def Jam in 2006, and it has been an amazing trip ever since.
My brother [Craig Tweedy, The Impossibles] has always played bass as long as I can remember so he was the first person to get be into the bass and make me truly love what the bass brought to the table in the sense of how songs were mended together. I got my first bass in 6th grade but switched to guitar shortly after out of obsession with mid-'90s emo. When our band at the time was ready to make some changes, it left an open spot at bass and I was actually super pumped to switch back and fill that position. From then on its been bass all fuckin day.
