We have added 103 YA titles from a new publisher – Story Shares – they generate and distribute new stories aimed at older students who read below grade level, specifically ensuring that the content is interesting at their age, and readable at their level. The problem they are addressing is that for those middle and high school students who read below grade level, the stories they can read are meant for a less mature audience. These Story Shares ebooks are age appropriate and relevant to this audience - books that are both compelling and approachable for struggling teen and young adult readers
They partnered with Benetech, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD), Orca Book Publishers, and the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) and Jabico Enterprises to run the Story Shares $50K Writing Contest in 2013-14. The contest sought to expand the body of contemporary reading material available to struggling readers. The shared goal was to make both reading and writing these stories easy and fun. The Story Shares Contest was, at its core, a project to test the true existence of this problem and the viability of our proposed solution.
The contest concluded in February 2014, and the results were powerful. They continue to build on this momentum and continue generating and distributing a resource of high-interest, low literacy content for older struggling readers.
I’ve added a tab to your enki homepages with StoryShares – YA. You can search for them using “storyshares”. -Paula
Thank you for the information Paula. I will also share these titles with our Project Second Chance, Adult Literacy staff.

Just to clarify – these are single use ebooks, correct? The people I work with in Alternative Education will want to have ebooks that can be used by the entire class.
Thank you,
