Below is a message from Benny about the upcoming season.
I've talked with Dan about the future of Enigma and wanted to reach out before the start of the season to gauge interest in some changes.
I want to lead Enigma this year. I know I haven't been on the team for several years, but I know most of you and want to be a part of this talented and fun group. However, I would want to make some significant changes. Here are a few of my thoughts for example:
- Set O/D lines
- No guarantee of equal playing time
- Pushing players into more specific roles that play to their strengths
- Higher expectations for practice attendance
- More organized systems including Offensive set plays and a variety of defensive looks
I think there is a lot of talent in Dayton and with a little more commitment we could win a lot of games and have a lot of fun. But I don't know the current vibe of the team and I don't know if people are interested in this type of change. From talking with Dan, practice attendance was low last year. One of my ideas is to have a longer practice one night per week. Hopefully this helps people commit to just one night per week. We can also try to run a few drills before/after Dayton league since most people play in those leagues. Occasionally, it would be fun to have a Saturday or Sunday practice followed by a hangout if people are able to make that work.
If you plan on playing for Enigma this year, I want to know your opinion. I'll be making a GroupMe poll soon to get a more structured response.
