Hello Enigma 2024,

We have a lot to cover here so please make sure to read the full email. Benny will be available for any questions before/after practice or via text (937-271-9320), or groupme.

Going into the season we did not expect to have this many people and I am excited that so many people are interested in playing with us. Unfortunately, we can only take 26 people on a tournament roster. Based on the tournament attendance sheet we have 26 people for Sectionals, but several people are a “maybe” and others have not filled it out yet. Please fill out the attendance sheet so we know if we need to make any hard decisions. If we do need to make cuts, I want to make the criteria clear ahead of time:

      • Decisions will be made to balance the current year's success with the future of Enigma. This means preference may be given to local college players. Additionally, we will be considering attitude, attendance and ability to run our systems.
      • It is also important to note that playing time at future tournaments will not be as even as monkey bowl. Lines will be called that give our team the best chance of success. If you want to know where you stand, just ask Benny privately.
Other items:
  1. SCINNY
    • SCINNY is a sanctioned tournament so lines will be slightly tighter but we will also use it as somewhat of a tryout tournament. We wanted to communicate this in case it changes anyone’s decision to attend or not.
  2. We are dropping out of Heavy weights
    • We had 14 people for Heavyweights which is slightly lower than I would like. Since that is also the 4th of July weekend and a far drive, we have decided to cancel the tournament and have a weekend practice instead. Also, we might have a pool party/game night Saturday night after the practice. More details will come closer to that weekend. Sign up on the attendance sheet for this weekend practice.
  3. Leadership group
    • In order to focus our practices, we have decided to form a leadership group of people to help with strategy and coaching. The captains will still lead the majority of practices, but the leadership group will help to answer questions and explain some details. Everyone comes from a different ultimate background and we are currently focused on getting everyone onto the same page. So far, we have had too many voices with different opinions. Differing opinions are still welcome, but rather than sharing publicly at practice they should be directed to a captain or leadership group member individually to keep practices running smoothly.
      • We are still figuring out who will be in this group.
  4. Practice/League
    • We are trialing a new practice location at Yankee Park (7500 Yankee St, Dayton, OH 45459) on Tuesdays 6-8:30.
    • League starts this week so there will be no Thursday practices. I encourage people to show up to league early. I will be there trying to run a drill, play mini, or even do agility ladders depending on our numbers. Our goal is to have our players get more out of these leagues and build up Dayton leagues to be more competitive.
Final Note: BIG shoutout to Christian and Blue for their MVP performances at Monkey bowl! This has been a great start to a fun season and I'm excited to see us grow as a team!
