Hi, all.
I recently found this site which says it will have a weekly Enigma puzzle:

This might tide folks over until Midnight Enigma goes live (any progress on that out of curiosity?).

Nice find, thank you! This seems to be a brand new site -- how did you find it "in real time"?

There's the added challenge of copying the Morse code message. For me and my rusty CW skills, the speed is just right. I will give that a try! But one can also capture a screenshot of the dash-dot visualization and look up the characters.

I will need to nudge Oscar regarding the Midnight Enigma page...

The author happened to post on a Discord I read (Long Island CW Club) and I was eager for an opportunity to use my touch :)

Enjoy practicing your CW!

Thanks for sharing - I help manage the Vail Adapter / https://vailmorse.com cw morse code internet repeater and I built the https://shadowenigma.com website. If anyone gives it a try, I'd love some feedback. I just got an Enigma Touch this week and it has been so fun to use.

Apologies for a late reply!

It is great to see this momentum - I had good intentions with the Midnight Enigma idea, but some severe Real Life Interference let progress go stale...

I just talked to Jurgen - and in terms of feedback (he'll chime in for sure): this is great!

The important thing is for such an 'Enigma activities' site to come back, and Shadow Enigma could be exactly that. So I know Jurgen agrees: the feedback is enthusiasm, let us know how we can help. We'd be happy to close the Midnight Enigma prototype page and instead put energy in this. Because, the important thing is that something like this comes to life, and community contributions are scarce enough that they should be focused on one site.

In other words - let us know if we can help making Shadow Enigma the focus for Enigma challenges and activities? It would be good to get a shot of energy in this topic!

Kind regards,

Oscar

Hi Bret, all,

Apologies from me as well -- not sure how I overlooked your post for weeks! I love what you have created with the Shadow Enigma page -- the challenges, the Morse code output, and the Enigma simulator all feel "right" and have a very nice vibe.

The combination of CW and Enigma is perfect for me -- I have meant to brush up my CW for a long time! And reading ciphertext groups is actually a good starting point: No distraction from trying to figure out the words as they come in, which has always been a stumbling block for me...

I am wondering whether it would make sense to open up the practice messages and competitions for Enigma enthusiasts who don't want to dive into Morse code also? In addition to the different point levels depending on the selected Morse code speed, maybe offer a category with written text, or "subtitles" in parallel with the Morse code message? Would appreciate feedback from others here -- is the Morse code requirement holding you back?

I agree with Oscar that we should aim for one "activity hub" around the Enigma. Is there anything we can do to help?

Best regards, and a great 2026 to all of you!
Jürgen
