I have found that the Capture fonts options does work with some SHX files but not all. I have logged this issue with the team in the past. The Product Feedback page as suggested by @WarrenGeissler is a great way to bring additional attention to the issue.

the text u sugest is true the only arab text ploted wright in the pdf ploter .but its so bad .the leters grafecs (the midle leters and the end leters ) not good . check plz the end leter in the word ... its not the same .. and if want to change it need to do shift all the time i hate it its bad font not easly readable ........ im sorry about my inglesh.

my problem that I use SHX font (x-arab1.shx) in autocad with Arabic characters, so when convert CAD to GIS all annotations changed to English characters, also i cannot change style in Autocad because it converted to English characters instead of Arabic (same issue).

Sometimes the CAD to GIS integration just will not work the way we want it to work. I have found one big work around for taking text characters in CAD and putting them in GIS to look exactly like they do in CAD. Since I am not a CAD operator, I do not know the proper term that is used but from how I understand it in MicroStation is that you select all the text in the drawing and then "drop the line styles". This essentially turns all the text into actual line features. It is not ideal and creates a much larger file but when done properly, it behaves exactly like the CAD operator would expect.

now this font xarb.shx have not the proplem we talking about ... un the printing pdf its fine its a its wondeful ... but its (how to explain it ) its bad , doesnt look good in arabic and doesnt write all the letters wright and easly .

about the virtual or external pdf dreivers or ploters .. olmust all the arab fonts get out perfuct. like magek . and there is no proplem ...where is the proplem ?!!! a - i dont want them ' i want to solve it in outocade b- i cant confeger sheets size esaly in them . i want for example my sheet to be 45 cm * 135cm . ii couldnt mange in it .

I am not sure that I can help on the PDF issue with Arabic fonts as it is a known issue for which I currently don't have an in-AutoCAD solution. FoxIt seems to resolve the PDF printing issues for many.

i thought today ' thats its cant be !!! that outcade is a very clever and developed programs , and arab font are normaly like all others fonts so the program must read it .. mabye we think in the wrong direction ... mabye some thing wrong about the destance btween the leters or the multi text or single line . i mean some thing wrong in the defntion of the text style and not the font .

I agree that this should be simpler. I suspect that the problem stems from the direction of the text being reversed from English. I have also wondered if a BIGFONT might be a better solution to this issue as well but I have not personally done much with them.

but the one difrece is that arabic writing its like poly line contenious some thing happen with the glue btween the letters ... mabye the destance must be 0. but i tried changing in it ...it doesnt work ..

i trayed this but get lost ... to save pc3 of some of these external ploters and other of the autocade pdf ploter and double klik on every one to c difrences ... i trayed to take the fiels to the folder one to another ... trying to install these 2 raster graphics and true type text to the outocade pdf pc3 but it hard ......c plz it like there is opttion to import plooting compenets what is it . can we change the saved pc3 after we save it ???

I am sorry you are continuing to have problems with this. You are correct that AutoCAD does not handle Arabic fonts in the PDF process very well. This is why the third party drivers are necessary. I suggest uninstalling all of them except the Foxit as I have read in many Forum posts that it does work. I have also verified that it will let us set your custom page size.

Assuming you don't have a lot of customization in your AutoCAD LT, you should be able to do a Reset Settings to Default to bring it back to original condition. There is no need to uninstall and reinstall at this time.

Please tell me what your typical plot settings need to be and I can configure a PC3 file for your Foxit installation. If you have any Plot Styles that you use, please zip them up and attach them to a post so I can incorporate them into a page setup for you as well.

I am not sure if Foxit is Free or if I just got a Trial. You might go back to their website to ask those questions. I see that Dean has been helping in this thread too. It appears that he tested the PDF driver that is included in Windows 10. It does not appear to allow custom page sizes however.

I went to a developer's application (PDF-Xchange) that I have used for a long time and has always performed well for me. It is free for non-commercial use and not terribly expensive to buy if you are using this for business. I installed it, configured a custom 3mx4m sheet and then plotted your file and it looks good to me. Please let me know if this helps. There might be other PDF writers/drivers available that you could test as well but this one works as promised.

x change installed ... and its seems very very nice program . i do choose a cusom paper size wanted . the new proplem :)) is it save it so fast .. and i dont know where is it in my pc . then i go to save and i picked a path and a name . ok ok ok its save it very fast and do not open the file after saving it and the big surpraise when i go the folder i cant faind it .... it seems it saving but to where ?? i cant c it yet .

Have problem with arabic fonts in autocad 2016 mac version, I have installed all arabic fonts for autocad with .ttf and .shx formats, but still have problem the words are showen spread in model view. If you know a solution for this! glad to know it, thanks in advance.

Hello,
I recieved an autocad file from a friend. He wrote some description text in the Arabic language. However when I opened it from my computer The arabic letters turned into English letters using the same sequence. To ellaborate, I saw description text infront of me like that
" hgok]sm hghkahzdm"
Of course this has no meaning but normally if you type these letters it will give you "Construction Engineering" but in Arabic words.
Can anyone help me me to show the Arabic letters back again ? Btw I use Autocad 2014
Thanks a lot

We use *.shx arabic fonts in our drawings. Everything was working flawlessly in AutoCAD 2015. We could write and print (to PDF or plotter for instance). But when we try to plot or convert a drawing to PDF in AutoCAD 2016, all *.shx fonts rotate and become upside down in the PDF file ro plot result !

Thank you for your concern. I have seen that xrab.shx file too and already downloaded and installed it. But unfortunately, this is not the one.
I am looking for the xarab.shx font.
If anyone has it please, kindly share.

Dear All

after autocad annonced that autocad support true type fonts we try to use windows fonts to write arabic in autocad rarly it's ok
the problem when printing even print as graphic option is checked the text come revirsed horizontaly thats comes with all autocad version event 2016 and when we write arabic and pan zoom the screen the text also corupted horizintaly
i'm askin is autodesk still not realy support languages from right to left cause using the xarab fonts is not the big solution that when you import text from revit world any other apps you can't use xarab

I have a magento CMS ecommerce based group buying deals website based in UAE and my developers have coded it in a way to send out PDF coupon vouchers in Arabic language to customers who bought the deal.

The problem is that the characters inside the PDF look very akward! They are disjointed and not connected together and they are displayed in a reversed order which can only be readable from left to right. So in other words the coupon vouchers in Arabic look extremely messy!

From what I see, it is not related to PDF or Acrobat, your CMS system may not support Arabic fully or it's not PDFing in the right way. The developers need to look into this matter, but I apologies for not having any suggestions for them.

If you can't get the people who designed your coupon to fix the problems, you can save the PDF as a Microsoft Word document and edit in an Arabic version of Word. Word should have proper Arabic fonts and right to left text flow. Then you convert to PDF from Word's Acrobat tab. It is not the best answer, but if you cannot go back to the place that designed your coupon, you may have to redo it in a proper editor and export it to PDF.

Even Searching in Chrome PDF viewer is done properly ... While in Acdobe Reader and also MS Explorer & Edge the text is extracted in REVERSED order .. even highlighting text is a BIG MESS in these products .. while i Chrome things go very smoothly
