Hey all:

If you'll check the earlier mail about D'Lo's stand-up performance and workshop, you'll know that it's happening on 3rd and 4th of September at the Park Hotel. Some of you have already confirmed for the performance. Please let me know how many would like to attend the workshop as well. I'll copy paste the details again below.

Meanwhile I have 20 passes (each pass admits two people) to give away free for the performance on 4th September. Please contact me as soon as you can on my number (080-22230959) to pick them up. The reviews of the show are good and already people have called and started booking their passes. Please let me know soon.

AGAIN: If you'd like to attend the workshop please let me know as we have to confirm numbers to the Park Hotel.

This is with reference to a workshop we are conducting with the comedian D'Lo. We are having his performance as a part of our yearly event The Park's New Festival and so the day before we are doing a small discussion/Q&A with him too. We would like to invite your group for this workshop being held on the 3rd of September at the Park Hotel between 10am - 1pm. We will also provide your group with invites for her performance on the 4th of September which is being held at Oak Room, The Park Hotel at 7pm.

D’Lo is a queer Tamil Sri L.A.nkan-American, political theatre artist/writer, director, comedian and music producer. D’Lo has performed and/or facilitated performance and writing workshops extensively (US, Canada, UK, Germany, Sri Lanka and India). D’Lo is also the creator of the “Coming Out, Coming Home” writing workshop series which have taken place with South Asian and/or Immigrant Queer Organizations nationally (LA, NY and SF).D’Lo’s work has been published in various anthologies and academic journals, most recently: Desi Rap: Hip Hop and South Asia America and Experiments in a Jazz Aesthetic (co-edited by Sharon Bridgforth). D’Lo holds a BA from UCLA in Ethnomusicology and is a graduate of New York’s School of Audio Engineering (SAE).

About the Performance:
D’FunQT(pronounced “Defunct”)
No matter how free we think we are, fierce queers and folks of color are being challenged daily in merely surviving; fighting against being defunct.
Defunct (dih-fuhngkt):
no longer operative or valid no longer in effect or use; not operating or functioning having ceased to exist or live; dead
D’FunQT (pronounced defunct) is filled with D’Lo’s humorous musings, rants and stories of being a queer boy/stud/transgendered person who grew up in a strict immigrant family, trying to make it all work peacefully while radically and bizarrely challenging mindframes in choosing to exist unapologetically.
