There aren't many people in the world that know more about AutoCAD® than Lynn Allen, renowned Technology Evangelist who spent more than 20 years promoting its annual releases, producing hundreds of video tips, writing three AutoCAD books, and more. She recently shared her thoughts on DraftSight in an article for AUGI.com (Autodesk User Group International), and whether it can truly be a viable replacement for AutoCAD.

Lynn also considered DraftSight's command aliases, familiar and customizable UI, support for data like Dynamic Blocks, and less processing requirements.   
 

“One of the tools that DraftSight supports that most of the other non-AutoCAD products doesn’t is Dynamic Blocks. Once you’ve created a robust library of Dynamic Blocks in AutoCAD, the thought of living without them is painful and --thankfully that’s not an issue with DraftSight.
