A Day Workshop on Cognitive Poetics

Dear All, 

As part of their continuing initiative to develop locally accessible archives on literature and literary theory, the scholars at the Department of English Literature are organizing a daylong workshop titled 'And Suddenly the Memory Revealed Itself': Consciousness, Epiphany and Remembrance in Literature and Cognitive Neuroscience on Wednesday, the 29th of October, 2014. We are privileged to have Dr Ashish Parui, an Assistant Professor of English at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Guwahati, as our resource person for the workshop. Besides making available a substantial body of introductory resources related to the area, the workshop aims to introduce the many ways of reading between and across the lines that simultaneously divide and juxtapose literature and psychology. Dr Parui has most kindly agreed to forward for our reference an abstract outlining some of the focus areas of the workshop. A copy of the same has been attached herewith. Reading materials related to the same will be circulated once we get a hang of the number of participants likely to register.    

We're yet to work out the schedule in detail, and while we're at it, registrations are invited from interested research scholars of the School of English Literary Studies. Please note that we maybe forced to limit the maximum intake owing to the paucity of funds and registration would be made strictly on a 'first come first served' basis. Certificates will be made available to all registered participants.  

Kindly note that while the registration is open only to the research scholars of the School, all the sessions would be open and members from other departments may attend the same as non-registered participants.
