"English Word and Grammar" is an initiative taken by me to enrich our
English in the word and in the grammar front.

WORD OF THE DAY:

boulevard - a street or road that is lined with trees on both sides.

In Kashmir, however, any road can be referred to as 'boulevard'.

WRONG TO CORRECT:

WRONG: My cousin divorced last month.

CORRECT: My cousin divorced his wife last month.

GRAMMAR: the word 'divorced' is followed by a noun or a pronoun. And
in the above sentence this were missing.

IDIOM/ Phrases

sexing up a document - to make changes so that the document becomes
much more interesting or exciting to read.

Very few Editors of the renowned newspapers would want that the
articles be sexed up.
