"English Word and Grammar" is an initiative taken by me to enrich our
English in the word and in the grammar front.

WORD OF THE DAY:

intransigent - adjective
Refusing to compromise; uncompromising.
Rahul seems intransigent at times, and almost playfully yielding at
others.

WRONG TO CORRECT:

WRONG: This time, I have to boost up my confidence so to crack the
Mathematics exam.

CORRECT: This time, I have to boost my confidence so to crack the
Mathematics exam.

GRAMMAR: It is never boost up so is the case with cope up. But it is
boost and cope, adding ''up'' is wrong.

-------------------------------------

IDIOM/ Phrases
hum and haw - not say directly what ones thinks, be hesitant because
one is undecided or because something is unpleasant.
Treasurer N Srinivasan hummed and hawed while explaining away how
Graham Ford's refusal was a "thing of the past".
