WORD OF THE DAY:

biddable \BID-uh-buhl\, adjective:

Easily led or commanded; obedient.

The Gorkhas of Nepal are always sought by the Indian Army as well as
by the British Army because of their calm, biddable, cooperative and
sensible manner.

WRONG TO CORRECT:

WRONG: I am like this only.

WRONG: She is like that only.

CORRECT: This is the way I am.

CORRECT: That is the way she is.

GRAMMAR: The frequent misuse of the word 'only' in Indian English.

IDIOM/ Phrases

to see which way the cat jumps - refusal to commit oneself to a course
of action until one is sure of what is going to happen.

My parents waited to see which way the cat jumped before they started
investing in the company.
