Hello dear my friends,

hope you are doing fine and weren't affected by the riots!

My mother, Akiko Kitagawa, who is a concert pianist based in Japan, is now in
London and is going to give her afternoon concert at Burgh House in Hampstead
on the 21st Sun Aug at 2 pm.

She is going to play Mozart's Sonata, Beethoven's Variations and “Moonlight S
onata",Chopin's Mazurkas, Impromptu, Andante spianato et grande polonaise bril

Akiko Kitagawa's profile:
Born in Tokyo, she studied the piano with Leonid Kochanski and gave her first
recital at the age of eighteen. She continued her studies with Prof. Richard H
auser at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, where she gradua
ted with the highest diploma in 1969. She has been a prizewinner at several in
ternational competitions including third prize at the Ferruccio Busoni Interna
tional Piano Competition, first prize at the Bösendorfer Piano Competitio
n and second prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.
After returning to Japan in 1970, she has performed extensively both nationall
y and internationally, including recitals in Vienna, Hamburg, Madrid, Warsaw,
Lima, Asunción, Hong Kong and Shanghai. In 1984, she gave a complete cycl
e of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas in Tokyo in a ten-day period. Furthermore,
in 2004, she gave an all-Beethoven series including the complete piano sonatas
and piano concertos nos. 4 and 5.
Currently, she is Professor of Piano at the Tokyo University of the Arts.

Thanks for the invitation, it my pleasure to join you for your mum piano concert, you must be very proud of her.
