Dear English Natives,

This one always troubles me as I'm not sure how to best formulate it. See an example below:

Email subject: topic <very_long_detailed_name>

Email text:

1) With reference to the topic in object ...
2) With reference to the subject topic ...
3) Any other formulation???

How do you refer to the email subject in the email text?

Thanks,
Riccardo

Of your options, 2) is better. "Object" would confuse people.

Alternatives;

"As per the above subject..."
"With regard to the subject of this email..."
(note: never "regards" when used in this context. Many native speakers make this mistake. Anyone writing "regard's" ought to be taken out and immediately shot)

Generally, it's the "subject". I suppose you could say "The object of this email is to...", as in objective, but it does sound a bit pompous.
