Namaskar,
A Proposal:
A National Conference
in Madison, Wisconsin, USA in 2012 on Economic
Democracy
Powerful corporate and financial interests in the
United States have corrupted democracy and robbed the American public. Yet to
protest is not enough. We need a clear and practical alternative that can unite
progressive organizations and inspire and empower the people with a better
quality of life.
We propose a national conference on economic democracy,
to envision an economy of the people, by the people and for the people. It must
guarantee the minimum requirements of life to all. It must strengthen local
economies and cooperative enterprises. And it must empower communities to decide
their economic future and stop the drainage of locally-generated money to
outsiders.
The goal of the conference would be to debate these proposals
and hopefully reach a broad-based consensus that can ignite the spark of radical
change.
Would you be interested in taking part in such a conference?
Would you be interested in helping to organize such a conference?
We are
considering holding the conference in either late summer or fall 2012. Do you
have a preference?
Do you have other suggestions?
We appreciate your
feedback. These ideas of Economic Democracy are fundamental to the Progressive
Utilization Theory or Prout, an alternative to global
capitalism.
