In recent years "tampering" by human beings has made substantial
inroads into religion. The man-made problems within the Roman
Catholic
and Anglican Churches are having staggering effects on worshippers,
many of whom no longer attend church.
The Anglican Church has been declining in membership for some time as
a result of dramatic changes in its philosophies and doctrines. In
Victoria, BC alone, seven churches have been closed within the last
few months.
In Canada, a new church, the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada,
has been established to meet the needs of Anglicans who wish to
worship the centuries-old way, using the Common prayer book,
liturgies
and doctrines with which they were familiar and comfortable before
the
"tampering" commenced.
Twelve parishes from all parts of Canada have already joined the new
church. The very first is a new church in Victoria, St. Mark's
Traditional Anglican Church.
Six weeks ago, St. Mark's had only twelve members in the
congregation.
This number has already spiraled to 47 with new members arriving
nearly every week. These are primarily people who were members of the
churches that have been closed. They are looking for a new spiritual
home and are happy to find one in which they can worship the way they
did before the changes took place.
The new diocese, the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada, requires
oversight by a bishop and it is expected that the first bishop will
be
appointed at the Synod. (Church Council) to be held in 2011.
In the interim period, two Traditional Anglican Archbishops in the
United States, Archbishop James Provence, the Archbishop of the
Anglican Province of Christ the King and Archbishop Mark Haverland,
Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Anglican Catholic Church will
provide the required oversight and patrimony of the new diocese,
until
the appointment of a Canadian bishop dictates that the new church
will
be fully Canadian.
The diocese will be incorporated in BC and other Canadian provinces
will be included under its auspices until dioceses are established in
other Provinces.
