My understanding is that your new threads have to be approved first, but
when you repsond to an existing thread your post doesn't need approval
first.

The reason for this (AIUI) is because you have a tendency to start
threads with little relevance to Christians in the UK.

Except that his personal name setting has changed, so as far as the
moderbot is concerned he's a new poster. So all his posts will need
manual approval. The name hermeneutika may look the same but it is utf-8
encoded.

To add to my post, if you change your username or email address then the
moderation system won't recognise auto approval, as these are the first
things it looks for.

You'll have seen my addendum (sorry I'd not seen this when I posted it)
by now but I didn't know that the utf-8 (whatever that is) caused it to
go into auto-approval.

But only if the utf-8 version of the from line isn't on the pre-approved list

https://blog.hubspot.com/website/what-is-utf-8

I just need to do a Ctrl-u g to see the plain ascii version of any post
in my newsreader.
