The Affordable Christmas Theatre Treat for the Whole Family!
Alan Perrin (currently starring in the award-winning 39 Steps in the
West End) directs this tender and spell-binding interpretation of
Dickens’ Christmas story for the Brighton Theatre Collective’s Winter
Season at the Barceló Old Ship Hotel, Brighton.

Company has commissioned Alan to adapt this classic tale – he has
lovingly produced a sparkling and unique re-telling of this favourite
seasonal treat.

Poverty, greed, debt and unemployment, recession and depression –
sounds familiar? Let this vibrant production remind you of the wisdom
of the old saying – ‘For wealth is family, family is wealth’ – Dickens
reminds us that love costs nothing and enriches us all – timely advice
for the Christmas season!
9 actors magically create the sights, sounds and characters of
Victorian London and of the supernatural visitors who haunt that
miserable, wretched, old skinflint - Ebenezer Scrooge. Love and
Redemption lie at the heart of this classic Ghost story.
Delivering both old-fashioned, tear-jerking pathos and spine-tingling,
spectral terror, this production is the ideal family outing for the
holiday season. And – at £20 for a family ticket – it offers
tremendous value.

About Brighton Theatre Collective
Brighton Theatre Collective is a production house that aims to produce
vibrant and relevant theatre for Brighton and Hove in an exciting new
venue. Founded by Janette Eddisford and Daniel Finlay, BTC is flying
in the face of the current theatre funding crisis and is determined to
create a new model for funding and producing.
BTC is working in partnership with Barceló Brighton Old Ship Hotel to
produce a series of productions in 2008-2009. We have developed this
creative partnership with The Old Ship - at 450 years, the oldest
public building in Brighton and previously Brighton’s Assembly Rooms –
to create a new venue and performance space.
Artistic Directors Janette Eddisford and Daniel Finlay have almost 60
years of theatre experience between them - acting, directing, stage
managing, writing, producing and teaching.
Brighton Theatre Collective is the realisation of their long cherished
ambition to establish a resident, producing theatre company in
Brighton and put our extraordinarily exciting and creative city on the
theatre map. Their shared artistic vision has been developed through
their work at the Academy of Creative Training - the only Drama School
on the South Coast offering professional training for actors. With a
65% graduate employment rate and having attracted the services of some
of the South’s leading actors and directors, ACT's undoubted success
has established Brighton as a key contender for students choosing a
contemporary actor training. Janette and Daniel have achieved all this
with no funding or subsidy of any kind and, moreover, whilst operating
with a not-for-profit ethos so as to offer maximum accessibility to
new talent.
Taking the similarly un-funded Globe Theatre as a source of
inspiration, Brighton Theatre Collective aims to build upon and extend
this reputation for excellence - creating a high quality repertoire
using exciting and dynamic established local actors alongside
newcomers to the profession.
We're very serious, very experienced and very determined to make the
Brighton Theatre Collective a company which will join the ranks of
Hull Truck, Coventry Belgrade, Manchester Royal Exchange - a unique
Brighton theatre brand which both serves the City and exports quality
work across the UK and Europe.
Brighton Theatre Collective's inaugural production was TRUNKS by
Stephen Plaice, starring local actors Sian Webber, Gary Sefton and
Richard Hawley.
Trunks Press Notices:
Trunks is an absolutely fabulous show not to be missed. Stirred every
emotion. One scene will make you laugh and the next will bring a lump
to your throat. Can't wait to see it again!
Brighton Life
Tense, shocking, even funny and utterly engaging, The Brighton Theatre
Collective’s new production of Trunks by the talented Steven Plaice,
at the Old Ship Hotel, is not to be missed. Simple, intelligent sets
in a wonderful location are always a winner with me, and this is no
exception.
Class always wins through in art and this is a class production. In a
way, it’s almost beautiful. Gary Sefton, Sian Webber and Richard
Hawley put in the kind of performance we expect from them; commitment
and timing with lots of talent and experience to boot.
