In Phase Three of the course, which begins the week of 10/31, one of
your tasks is to do primary research. Primary research means that you
go right to the source, in the form of an interview, a site visit, an
observation.

Read about primary research, including all material from
the Conducting Field Research link. Each of you is expected to
complete some type of primary research. Come to class with ideas about
what type of primary research you will do.

Also, post a brief introduction/ background paragraph relating to your
primary research.

I would like to conduct an interview for my primary research. I would
be interested in interviewing a heart or lung doctor or even a nurse.
I would ask them about their views and opinions on the affects of
smoking and second hand smoke.

I want to interview my roommates mother who is part of a group
dedicated towards corruption in the education system of Illinois.
Also if I could interview a principal from a local school they may
have a different opinion. Mainly I would be asking about for more in
depth information as to why it is so hard to remove in adequate
teachers.

For this phase of the project I have two ideas in mind. I work at the
Area Career Center's Bilingual Program, so I could interview one or
more of the teachers that work there. If lucky, I could interview the
principal. If I do an interview for this phase, I would probably ask
them about their opinion and views of the program. I could also ask
them if they think that the program is eefective, or if they think
that the program is benefitial to the students. If I don't do an
interview, I could make a survey. In the survey I would ask the
students if their parents are pro or against bilingual education
program. I know of some students whose parents do not want them to
attend the program. Either one of these two ideas would probably be
good and would probably make a good primary source.

so for this phase im thinking that i kinda of leaning towards the
topics of teen pregnancy like the not what you see on television. I
would like to interview people from planned parenthood and get like
statistics of the age of people that go there and like what is mostly
done there. i also am thinking about maybe talking to a social worker
about teen mom's that they help. Finally i know that i really want to
talk to other teen mom's and see how they are handling their life now
that they are parents. I want to talk about what is on Teen Mom and
16 & Pregnant . I really want to research what they it really like to
be a teen mom. I also have another idea as to interview planned
parenthood and talk to them about the current issue of the state
trying to take away their funding. I want to research the state
problem with planned parenthood. I think that they may be a good
topic to let people know what planned parent hood is how they really
help teens with protecting them from STD's and even unplanned
pregnancy.

I would like to conduct my research through an interview. I would like
to interview a teenager and see how they specifically feel about music
and if they feel that there is an effect on them mentally.

I would like to interview someone who works in the fast food
industry. I would ask them their advertising tactics and about health
facts of the food they provide.
I would also like to ask them their opinion on the health aspects of
fast food in general.

I would like to do an interview or survey for my primary research. I
would be interested in speaking with teachers who have had experience
with 5thn grade students in both an elementary setting as well as in a
middle school setting. I would ask them the pros/cons of both of their
situations.

I plan on doing interviews for my primary research from a current
teacher in the education field and a retired teacher. I would ask them
about the education now compared to how it was maybe 10 years ago and
ask them how they feel about how the education system is now.

Im hoping to do an interview with either principals of local schools
and their views on the sex education topic. But I would also would
like to maybe interview some kind of doctor and get their perspective
on when a person is actually ready for sex education. And to help
further in my research I would like to be able to do a survey of how
many kids are having sex and out of those kids did receive sex
education but what kind and if they even knew what as going on. I
want to make this into something that is not just from the books but
from real life.
