Hi Dan and all,
Ive 'finished' the conversion of the Chapter 2 to pretext. You can see it on GitHub here:
The chapter 2 source is here:
It took longer than I thought it would. There was a lot of cleanup to do, and the geogebra applets don’t work without a lot of trial and error to get them to fit on the page. Of course, q big document like this is never really finished, just somewhere on the path to perfection, but I’m happy with how it has turned out so far, and think this is going to be worth the work.
I didn’t try to make this a faithful reproduction of the google docs draft, but rather I tried to fit things into the pretext mindset of how a book should be structured. And I can’t really stare at the text like I was without improving it in places.
Some changes
removed most parentheses
spelled out small integers: one dimensional
fixed inconsistencies and problems with the latex
reorganized slightly
made edits for clarity or correctness
replaced your applets with the ones I worked on this winter.
replaced horizontal tables with vertical lists
Activated cross references, but I know I missed some.
note: spherical and cylindrical coordinates diagram isi incorrect.
Remember that this is the out-of-box pretext presentation and styling. The point of pretext is to separate content from presentation, so that properly tagged source document can be rendered and styled easily and consistently. If you don’t like the way something looks it can probably be changed. It will be easy to make a pdf version later based on the pretext source.
Dan, keep feeding me chapters to convert because I have the time to work on this now. Getting them all done by September is going to be challenging, though.
