2020 Update

Hi Team,

Hope everyone is off to a great 2020.  

First, I wanted to introduce my student hourly Randy Mondragon  rmdr...@colostate.edu who I have hired this spring to help us out. Randy is a 2nd degree candidate in Chemical and Biological Engineering. He'll largely be working on GeoGebra interactives and will serve as a student voice to keep us in check (he just took Statics last semester).

Second, as everyone has been working on their respective chapters I haven't wanted to pull time for group emails and meetings. I wanted to provide an update on where we are and offer some opportunities for editing of chapters. The full list of chapters is available on our Google Drive (GD) folder: 

• 1. Introduction - draft is complete in GD and ready for review
• 2. Forces and Other Vectors -  draft is complete in GD and ready for review 
• 3. Equilibrium of Particles - draft is complete in PreText (on Will's server) and ready for review
• 4. Moments and Couples - draft is about 50% completed in GD and could possibly use another co-author (if James would like the help)
• 5. Equilibrium of Rigid Bodies - draft is complete as a PDF in GD and ready for review
• 6. Equilibrium of Structures -  draft is complete in GD and ready for review
• 7. Properties of Shapes - chapter is currently undrafted in GD and could possibly use another co-author (if Erin would like the help)
• 8. Internal Loading within Rigid Bodies - draft is 85% complete in GD and Dan is currently working to add to the excellent work that Devin Berg drafted
• 9. Friction - Draft is 75% complete and could use another co-author to help carry to 100%. Remaining sections are drafted (courtesy of Jacob's MechanicsMap content) but need finalized.
• 10. Virtual Work - Draft is 40% complete and could use another co-author (although I think I'm the only one who covers this topic)
• Appendices, currently include 
• In Google Drive
• Vector components using a right triangle
• Learning Laws
• Linear algebra (matrix) solutions
• In PreText
• Distance Formula
• Right Triangle Trigonometry
• Oblique Triangle Trigonometry
• Properties of Steel Sections
• Thoughts on other appendices we should provide?

Please let me know if you would like to review any chapters and/or jump in as co-author. I'd like to have all the chapters as complete drafts and internally reviewed before I reach out to external reviewers in the next month or so.

I have 3-D content to add to my existing contribution of the chapter 5 (equilibrium of rigid bodies).  I intend to have this added by the end of this upcoming weekend.

Also, I would like to review/contribute to Chpts. 6 (equilibrium of structures) and/or 8 (internal forces).
