I have managed to take the Bluetooth Chat sample application and
stripped it down to the bare minimum for our use in RIFL. You can find
the sample project at
http://groups.google.com/group/engineering-design-ii-group-6-spring-2010/web/BluetoothComponentProject.zip?hl=en
since it may be useful not only to reuse but also refer to when doing
other Bluetooth programming. More to come....-CN

I have uploaded two more files. One is a zip of the bluetooth service
test I just ran and the other is screenshot of that test running on
one of the phones. The test application reads the values from the
sensor and transmits the values to another device that is connected to
the first device. The screenshot,
http://groups.google.com/group/engineering-design-ii-group-6-spring-2010/web/BluetoothTestScreen_20100308A.png?hl=en,
depicts the readings. The top set of values are those of the receiving
device while the lower set of values are the local device's own sensor
values. Notice that there is a "toast" that says the device is not
connected. This toast depends on the state of the connection which
changes despite the fact that values are still being received by the
opposite device. In the event that we involve more devices we will
have to implement some kind of header information among other things
to ensure that respective messages get to their intended recipients.
But for now we are in a position to relay both accelerometer readings
and orientation readings since they will provide a scalar value of how
fast the user is moving as well as the direction which s/he is moving
and depict that on the basestation. The project folder is located at
http://engineering-design-ii-group-6-spring-2010.googlegroups.com/web/BluetoothServiceTest_20100308A.zip?hl=en&gda=0_RQSlUAAAAwTyAxwHLHtIuBlBn-zYvOmVD37UZnYJv2vBk-7aVdIM2bwSv3T3VFCrEm7NO4ZYrAmzcPop_ccRX5NagEBmBfvp3MRGeKwgMTrXPQweC60xrtYix3qocOGWUY90Yyf_g&gsc=rW-lwgsAAADlRBpsdBAmVx4KBXTn_PoN.
