In a quick experiment I have made two smartphones scan for bluetooth
devices while in separate rooms of my house. With my G1 and my
father's Blackberry they were able to find and determine the names of
each other while being in separate rooms of the house.
This gives new hope that we can make a speedy prototype using
bluetooth connectivity but few issues remain. One is if there can be
multiple device connections via bluetooth. Another is reliability. I
will try to devise a test that will allow one device to ping the other
unless there is already one. Also, I want to conduct another test with
two G1's or Android Dev Phone 1's to validate the fact that these
devices have class 2 bluetooth hardware.
