Hello, and welcome to the 2013 Club Mixed Ultimate season!
Engine45 is starting up. We are excited about returning this season and building on last year's foundation. We will be participating in the inaugural Triple Crown Tour, at the Elite-Select Challenge in Seattle, and intend to make a strong showing at Nationals. Above all, we intend to have a great summer, becoming better players and a better team, and having fun working hard and enjoying the game that we love.
Thanks for your interest, and hope to see you in a couple weeks!

Engine45 Mixed Club Ultimate: Team and Season
Our Team
Engine45 is
an Oregon mixed team, focused on the Club Championships series.
We aim to bring Portland mixed Ultimate back to Nationals, over
several years, as we establish an annual contender. We
will accomplish that by focusing on both individual and team growth,
all season. We will have organized practices,
strategies, and a season plan, supervised by an experienced coach.
Most importantly, we will have a core of players dedicated to
building up their team, their game, and Oregon Ultimate.
These
are our principles:
1) Hard work: The
path and the goal of high-level athletics. This team is an
opportunity to work hard, with direction, and thus
improve.
2) Team work: Work hard for each other.
Rise up together.
3)
Respect: Respect yourself, respect your
team, respect your opponents. Respect the game.
We
offer the opportunity to potentially become the best athlete and
Ultimate player you have ever been, on a team full of excellent
folks working towards the same goal.
This will be a truly coed team. Strong
women, in play and in leadership, are a requirement for elite mixed
ultimate.
We
will have a busy schedule, but the emphasis is on opportunities for
growth, and establishing a culture of respect for teammates'
commitments to both the team and other parts of their life.
Any group you spend this much time with can become a close
community, and we are also focused on keeping it a positive,
enjoyable, and very fun one.
2013
Schedule
We
ask commitment to:
6/1-2 practice & possible Hood River ultimate-community day
6/8 practice
6/22 practice
7/29-30 Logjam
7/13-14 Team Retreat
7/27-28 pre-tourney practice (1 or 2 days TBD)
8/3-4 Kleinman
8/10-11 TCT Elite-Select Challenge, Seattle
8/17-18 practice
8/24-25 practice
labor day off
September and October: sectionals, practice, regionals
10/17-20 Nationals in Frisco, TX
Cost:
Rough estimate $350 total team fees, covering uniforms, fields, tourneys, coaching, and equipment. Usually paid in monthly dues. Could certainly be reduced by fundraisers, sponsorships, merchandise, etc.
Personal travel costs through regionals possibly as low as $250, depending heavily on travel style and regionals location. Keep in mind this would be personal expenses replacing those of other late-summer-weekend activities.
Costs for the first Nationals to be held in Frisco are unfamiliar, but $500-700 in airfare, lodging, and fees seems likely, before nationals-specific fundraising.
