Subject: Complaint against travel agent Yatra.com and Go Air. Request for action against all the travel agents and airlines.

Dear Sir/Madam

As a Citizen of the Union of India, I would like to register a complaint against the travel agent Yatra Online Private Limited, India (referred to as Yatra.com) and Go Airlines India Pvt Ltd  (referred to as Go Air) on unscrupulously fleecing the customer with the customer’s hard earned money. Below are the details of the complaint:

Yatra Confirmation Number: 26011564237

Go Air Airline PNR: Y67LJX

The details are as following: On 26th Jan 2015, I had booked two tickets from New Delhi to Pune for the 11th Feb 2015 using Yatra.com with Go Air. One ticket was with my name Mr. Yash Sharma and the other was to be in the name of Mr. Robert Smith. However, instead I entered my name Mr. Yash Sharma in the second ticket also and proceeded to book the ticket and paid the required booking amount. There were no warnings or checks by Yatra.com to ensure that the two names were same or that I as the user of the website Yatra.com re-check the name of the passenger as it cannot be changed later.

On realizing that the second ticket was booked under my name, I contact both Yatra.com and Go Air. Both the companies refused to change the name, even though I had told them how can I travel on two tickets. At first, Yatra refused to escalate the issue also. Upon calling them second time did they escalate the issue. However, they refused to change the name then also as it was not as per the policy of the travel agent and the airline. I must bring to your consent the following:

·         The travel agent Yatra.com and the airline Go Air, did not mention about this policy while entering the names of the passengers.

·         There were no warnings or intimation messages on Yatra.com’s website that passengers cannot change the name later.

·         Nor was there any warning message that the two names are the same.

The website unscrupulously just led to the payment page without any warnings or notices about passengers name policy. Feeling cheated I cancelled the tickets and had to pay the cancellation charges amounting to about Rs 3500, even though I was unscrupulously fleeced of my hard earned money. As a citizen of the Union of India, I request take action against Yatra.com and Go Air and direct them to refund the full amount including the cancellation charges.

Further to make sure such unscrupulously policies are not practiced by any travel agent and any airline operating in the Union of India and that these travel agents and airlines do not fleece any of the Citizens of Union of India, with their hard earned money, I request you to direct all travel agents and airlines operating in the Union of India with immediate effect take the following actions:

·         Travel Agents and Airlines make their policies aware to the Citizens of Union of India every time these citizens book an airline ticket.

  • ·        Allow the Citizen of Union of India who has booked a ticket on Travel Agents’ or Airlines’ website to change the names of the travelling passengers within 24hours of booking of an airline ticket and to do this free of charge.
  • ·         Travel agent and Airline must ask for direct the Citizen of Union of India who has booked a ticket on Travel Agent’s or Airline’s website confirm and re-confirm that names of the passengers and date of travel. These  Travel agent and Airline print these policies only after the ticket has been booked and payment is made to them.
  • ·         Allow the Citizen of Union of India who has booked a ticket on Travel Agents’ or Airlines’ website to change the booking date and time of the travel within 24hours of booking of an airline ticket and to do this free of charge.

Mam/Sir, the reason for my above complaint is that we work hard to our living and the money, however these Travel Agents or Airlines are unscrupulously fleecing the very people they should serve. Unless you take action now, they will keep finding newer and newer ways to fleece customers. Thus I request you to take the strictest action against Travel Agents or Airlines.

I am also enclosing/attaching the ticket that I had booked. Kindly let me know when an action is been taken. I will also file an RTI application if within 15days no action is taken and my money is no refunded.

Thanks and Regards

Yash Sharma

Hello Yash,

How are you? Did you tried registering your complaint at below. I personally have found it useful over couple of times in case of RCOM false billing.

Rgds,

I am good, Yash. many thanks.

Folks,

I need some help regarding property if anyone can guide me.

I want to know whether builders NOC is needed for resale of flat if society is not formed. As per google results, Maharashtra government has an order saying its not needed but banks still asking for that from the new buyer (for his loan purpose) whom I am selling my flat.

Please advice or point towards someone who can help.
