Respected sir,

1.   Arnold’s idea of disinterestedness is relevant. Critic has to give his view without partiality and he can do it only his disinterestedness towards the work, because, detachment give a high level of moral value of the work.

2.   Arnold’s second idea of “Touchstone method” is not appropriate for nowadays.  The critic compares it to passage another work of great master of poetry. Arnold’s “Touchstone” to discover ‘tension’ or the proper balance between connotation and denotation in poetry.
