English 101



SHORT STORY


Carlo and Christian are brothers. Carlo is 2 years older than
Christian. They came from a rich family. Their parents sent them in
California to further studies. Their parents provided money to pay
their apartments, cars, food, tuition fees and other necessary needs.
They enrolled at the University of California Los Angeles. They
rented an apartment closed to UCLA. Since they are new in the
university, they have few friends. As days passed they meet a lot of
friends.

It was 8:00pm, Friday. Carlos and Christian was about to go to bed
when the doorbell rang. Christian opens the door.

“Hi! Christian! James said. Do you want to go with us tonight? We are
going to the bar. Anyway we have no class tomorrow, let’s have some
jamming.” Where is your brother Carlo?

“He’s there reading his notes!” replied Christian.

“Do you want to go with us, Carlo? We are going to bar to have some
fun. Anyway we have no class tomorrow”. James said with a little bit
voice louder.

“Thanks, I’ll just stay home! I prefer to read my notes. I have a lot
of readings in my English 101. Thank you for the invitation, I really
appreciate it”. Replied Carlo.

“It’s boring here. Let’s go out; let’s go to the bar! Let’s do
something different. We drink, there are girls to talk with, let’s
enjoy.!….” Said James.

“It’s really boring, from house to school, from school to house.! It’s
really boring! Lets do something different anyway our test will be on
Tuesday, we are going with you”. Christian said.

“Not me, I ‘m not going. I’ll just stay home. Thank you for the
invitation, James.”. Carlo answered.

“O ‘common Carlo, let’s go with James, let’s enjoy life while we’re
young, let’s have some fun, don’t be kill joy, let’s go”. Said
Christian.

That’s the start of new life to Christian. He spent the money sent to
him by his parents going to bar every night, buying some stuff that he
doesn’t need just to show to his friends that he has this new things.
Sometimes he couldn’t attend his class the next day because he slept
late and woke up late.

While Carlo study hard, he make sure that he spent the money sent to
him by his parents in all his needs in the school. Not only that he
learns how to save money. He looks for a part time job so he could
help his parents.

Time came that their parents ask them to go home in their country
because there was a problem.

When they are in their home, their daddy said to them.

“Carlo and Christian, we have no more business, and we no more money
in the bank because I sent all the money to both of you. Now It’s time
for you to work to finance you own studies.” I’m sorry for that”.

Christian was crying and crying, because he couldn’t accept that they
have no money.

“What did I do to my life? I didn’t give importance to my studies. I
spent all the money you sent to me in all worthless stuff? I was so
sorry daddy and mommy”, help me!

While Christian, felt very sad with what happen to their business, but
he said to his parents.

“Don’t worry daddy, I will help you, I have some savings and I have a
part time job in California. I go back there to work and I will help
you”. If you promise Christian that you will change your life style I
will help you. But for the mean time you stay with daddy and mommy to
help them and I will send you money”.

Christian had realized how life is very important. He value whatever
his brother Carlo sent him. He learns to listen to his parents. He is
so thankful to God that he had his parents who are always there with
him though he messed up his life when he was still studying. He learns
now how to choose friends.
