Bacevich discusses the illusions of American military being that they
are an unstoppable force and having a reputation for invincibility.
When Bush was in power he used the military with the prose of
terrorism to enforce his American ideals on the world. He gained
immense power, which some say was too much for one person and set
about starting preventive wars that have failed to meet their goals.
In the series of Star Wars movies and mainly the “Revenge of the Sith”
there is a comparison to how a democratic society can give more and
more power to some one thinking that they are going to use that power
wisely and end up using that power for their own gain.

America needs to implement a more modest foreign policy which means
that the military will not be overstretched and will be consistent
with the soldiers capabilities. This means that America will need to
give up on the notions of military grandeur and reign in imperial
presidents. In the Family Man, Nicholas Cage is a wealthy Wall Street
Investment Banker living the Highlife in New York City. He is shrewd
and will do anything to get the job done. Magically one day he wakes
up in an alternative life where he is married with children. He hates
this scenario at first but then realizes that this more modest way of
life is much more beneficial and rewarding.
