Bye bye enetCollect, welcome D4Collect

Dear enetCollect members,

 

Long time no see for most of us. We hope you are all doing fine.

 

After a busy period on our side, we would like to get back in touch and give you a quick update on enetCollect-related activities and future plans for our crowdsourcing and language learning community.

 

It is now one year that enetCollect has officially ended and despite our silence we have moved forward on applying for a DARIAH working group, which was officially established early this year (https://www.dariah.eu/activities/working-groups/combining-language-learning-with-crowdsourcing-techniques-d4collect/).

 

This group will provide a flexible framework for keeping in touch and organizing small-scale activities based on external funding sources.
It is conceptually similar to enetCollect, but with a smaller scale and more targeted initiatives.

 

In 2021/2022, we (and several other enetCollect members we know of) have slowly moved forward on different taskforces that were started during enetCollect meetings/crowdfests.
Part of these efforts will be included in a “Special issue on crowdsourcing for language learning and linguistic resource creation” for the journal Slovenščina 2.0 that we are currently preparing as guest editors and which will be published at the end of this year.

 

Apart from pursuing these efforts, on our side the year was very crammed with family and Eurac duties on our side.

Said that, we intend to focus on the publication of the special issue this year and aim for organizing new activities within the network only starting from spring 2023 (e.g. new taskforces and a third Crowdfest).
Feel free to let us know meanwhile of any ideas you might have or wish to pursue through the network.

 

To get started, we are inviting all of you to sign up for the new mailing list wg-d4c...@dariah.eu (enetCollect-all will be disabled in the near future) and to share any relevant announcements, updates on your activities and proposals for future initiatives with the community.
